CHAINSTITCH
Chainstitch,
be it in wool, cotton or silk, is done by Hook ( Ari ). All
the embroidery, done by silk or wool thread, is executed on
handwoven pre-shrunk cotton fabric. The intrinsic worth of
each piece lies in the size of the stitches and in the yarn
used. Tiny stitches are used to cover the entire area –
the figures or motifs are worked in striking colours with
background in a single colour. Stitches ought to be small,
even sized and neat so that the background fabric is not visible
through the stitches.
